Marketing your Mortgage Business on LinkedIn – Tip 4 of 5
By JC Kiadii, Internet Marketing for Mortgage Professionals
The 4th tip in my 5-part series on marketing your mortgage business is this:
Make your LinkedIn profile search engine friendly.
Step 1 – Do (or have someone do) your keyword research.
Your goal is to find the keywords that qualified prospects use when they are (a) actively searching for your services or (b) in the market for your services.
Step 2 – Make sure your LinkedIn profile contains your keywords.
Go through your profile, and make sure it contains your keywords. Consider using your keywords in your job title, as well.
Step 3 – Make your profile public.
Click settings (in the upper right hand section). Under settings, click profile setting. In the public profile setting, make sure “your public profile displays full information” is selected.
Step 4 – Edit your urls so that they include your keywords.
LinkedIn allows you to link to up to 3 websites. The default anchor text (my website, my blog, etc.) does you absolutely no good. So, change it. If you blog about FHA mortgages, for example, you can change the anchor text from my blog to California FHA Mortgage Info.
- Click Settings
- Click Profile Settings
- Click My Profile. In this section, you have the option of of setting options.
- Go to the websites section.
- Click next to the url.
- Change the dropdown to other. This allows you to type a descriptive, keyword rich name for your link (ex., California FHA Mortgage Info).
Homework: Make your LinkedIn profile SEO friendly.
